There are many aspects to the redevelopment of 612-618 Columbia Road in Dorchester, Massachusetts. The first is the Congregate Housing Program, which consists of 24-hour congregate staff for 16 efficiency units nestled on the first and second floors, within this family residential community. HEARTH formerly The Committee to End Elder Homelessness provides the services to the congregate residents. Peabody Properties Inc. is the management agent for this site, which is known as Uphams Corner Market Residential. Completing the project are three commercial spaces two of which face onto Columbia Road as you enter Upham’s Corner heading west. The commercial spaces on Columbia Road are light and sun splashed spaces. A third commercial space is tucked into the lower level near the rear entrance of the building on Ramsey Street. This entire project fills what was for twenty years a boarded up eyesore at the entrance to Upham’s Corner and had been previously used as residences and a thriving supermarket in the 1940’s. New Communities Services is the General Partner of the Limited Partnership.
